Community Involvement

Troop 286 is proud to be an active part of the local community. Through our participation in Adopt a Creek and Adopt a Park, Scouts help care for local waterways, public spaces, and neighborhoods while learning the value of service and environmental stewardship.
Throughout the year, Troop 286 offers Scouts and families opportunities to serve and connect with the community through events such as National Night Out, Fourth of July parades, BeautifySJ, neighborhood cleanups, and other local service projects. The troop also supports its chartered organization, Holy Family Catholic Church, by assisting with its annual festival and participating in other service projects that benefit the parish community.
Scouts also make a lasting impact through Eagle Scout service projects. These projects allow Eagle candidates to plan, develop, and lead substantial efforts that address real needs in the community, often benefiting local schools, parks, nonprofit organizations, churches, and other community partners. Through every service opportunity, Troop 286 puts the Scout Oath and Law into action by being helpful, civic-minded, and committed to making a positive difference.
